Boarding Frequently Asked Questions
-
— Please bring your cats food. We have a range of in-house diets, however diet change can cause GI upset. Maintaining your cat’s regular diet during boarding helps them stay happy and healthy!
— A small item such as a thin blanket, t-shirt or pillow case that smells like home is a great way to help your kitty feel more comfortable in an unfamiliar environment. Please do not send a bulky bed or blanket, we provide beds and blankets or towels to keep your cat comfortable while here. Please do not send a sentimental item. If it becomes soiled it may need to be washed. While we do our best to keep track of all blankets and towels, it is easy for things to get misplaced in the laundry.
— We have toys here which we can offer your kitty, and sending their favorites from home is a great way to help your cat settle in. Again, make sure it is not a sentimental toy!
— Any medications your cat is on, ideally these should be in the original prescription bottle as this allows us to confirm doses and strengths of medications. Any controlled substances are required to be kept in their original prescription vials.
-
— We require all cats be up to date on Rabies and Distemper vaccines for their health and the health of all other patients in our clinic. If your cat has a medical reason to be exempt from these vaccines such as age or medical concerns this will require review and approval from a DVM prior to boarding.
— If your cat is not a current patient, we will require complete medical records from their regular DVM. If your cat is on medications these records must include their current prescription, latest exam, and lab work. We require these records at a minimum of 5 days prior, however the sooner the better as this allows us time to review your cat’s history and ensure we can provide the best care possible.
— Flea treatment is required for all of our boarders. If they are not currently on a flea preventative we will administer one on arrival. This is for the protection of your cat and any others in the clinic.
— If your cat is not a current client and has a medical condition that would put them in a high risk category while boarding, our doctors may require an examination upon or prior to admission. This is to ensure we can keep your cat happy and healthy during their stay. These conditions include but are not limited to: Diabetes, Heart Conditions, and Hyperthyroidism.

We are not a 24 hour clinic. We are open 5 days a week and have staff that comes in twice a day over the weekends to care for our boarders. While many cats do well being fed twice daily some have more specific diet requirements. During the weekdays we are happy to accommodate those cats that need smaller frequent meals. On weekends we adjust to your cats needs by offering a small meal at the start and end of each treatment, or use slow feeder dishes to help spread out meal time.
-
More frequent treatments can be accommodated during the weekdays. If your cat needed this service over a weekend that would need to be discussed on a case by case basis and may require an additional treatment fee.
-
Admission and discharge times can be set up with our customer service specialists when reserving your boarding reservation. Admission times are set up earlier in the day to allow your cat time to acclimate while we have a full staff on board. We do offer weekend drop off and pickups on a limited basis and there is an additional weekend pick-up or discharge fee. These are not available if this is the first time we have seen your cat or if your cat has a sensitive medical condition as we do not have a full staff during the weekends.
-
If your cat requires unplanned care or treatments during their stay we will contact you to review the recommended care. Should an urgent matter arise during the weekend we always have a DVM on call to provide your cat the best care possible.
-
We do our best to email regular photos and updates of your kitty during their visit. We cannot guarantee these on a daily basis, and do not usually send them on weekends, but send them as often as we can. Some cats love the camera and some are quite shy, or too much on the go to pose for a picture so you may just get a note with an update. If you are ever wondering how your cat is doing feel free to call or email during your trip to check in.

— We offer standard cages that are H 28” x L 28 “ x W 23 “ and come with a perching shelf
— We also offer Condo cages which have the same dimensions as our standard cages and have an extra H 15” x L 12” x 23” cubby to allow more space and privacy.
-
— We use privacy curtains sprayed with Feliway pheromone spray
— We save cardboard boxes to create extra cubbies and beds for your cat to feel safe and secure.
— We also incorporate the medication gabapentin to provide anxiety relief to our more anxious patients. This is only on an as needed basis and at the discretion of our doctors. If a cat is very nervous while boarding and needs extra accommodations or staff members to handle safely we may speak to you regarding an extra care fee. Occasionally we find a situation where your cat is simply too nervous in a boarding environment. The health and safety of your cat is our highest priority and if we realize boarding is not the best thing for your cat we will let you know and recommend at home pet care while you are away.
— We recognize that each cat is an individual and do our best to accommodate their unique personalities. Some cats love engagement and we are happy to provide that! Others are a bit more reserved and we respect that too and give them space if preferred.
-
If your kitty is outgoing and has energy to burn we let them explore our exam rooms when the hospital is quiet and provide toys to chase. Some cats get adjusted to their space in the kennel and get nervous when brought out so we let your cat tell us what is best for them.
